NEW VIDEO: Ox & AD5 “Otis”
By LG |

Watch The Throne has been so heavily covered, remixed, and ran through that I didn’t think anyone else could squeeze out something good from it. But these two guys proved me wrong. AD5 & Ox are two Virginia rappers that prove sometimes the slow and steady win the race. A very good cover indeed. Ears open folks.

MIXTAPE REVIEW: J-Dub “Still Growing”
By LG |

Rappers release mixtapes nowadays as a way to stay relevant. Thinking that releasing random music will make me care about you more is something I dislike with every bone in my body. If you release a mixtape, you better give me something to look forward to, or something to think about. With Still Growing, J-Dub has given us both. NEW MUSIC: Ven “My Reply”
By LG |

It’s rare that I come across a rapper that has the potential to exceed my expectations for them. In this track, Ven raps over an original beat about…..yup, the fact that he’s better than everyone else. I hope he keeps his hunger, because there are plenty of people ready to dispute that fact. Here’s to hoping he can prove them wrong.

NEW MUSIC: Flyboy Stackz “#FlyboyFridays Week 1″
By LG |

I’m a tad late on this but it was something I definitely wanted to follow. Flyboy Stackz is releasing a series of weekly tracks in what looks to be his take on Kanye West’s “Good Friday” idea. He raps over Weezy’s “Megaman” and “Niggas In Paris” from Watch The Throne. Check back next Friday for Week 2. Ears open folks.

NEW MUSIC: Chris B “Wish You Had Called”
By LG |

Wow. This a really great song from Chris B. He dedicated this to a friend of his who committed suicide. It’s a clear departure from what we usually hear from him, but he handles it very well.

  • What’s Your Name?

Who are you? Really. Ask yourself that. The first step to making a presence is knowing who you are. The one thing that should always be consistent throughout your brand, (yes, you are a brand), is your name. Occasional name changes aside, your name always be the same. But when upcoming rapper, let’s call him “Kid Magic”, releases new music and his YouTube account calls him “K.I.D. Magic”, song title calls him “KidMagic”, Twitter calls him “Kiidd Magic”, and so on and so forth, how are his fans supposed to connect to his brand?
