MIXTAPE REVIEW: Moss “Am I Famous Yet? Vol. 2″
By LG |

Moss is an all-star. He knows his game, and plays it very, very well. He may not sound like what you hear on the radio, but in the words of Joe Budden – “What’s the point of fitting in when you’re really a standout?” Am I Famous Yet? Vol. 2 is a great project. It even dares to be better than Moss’ previous, near perfect offering – “It’s Like I’m Famous”.

ALBUM REVIEW: D-WHY “Don’t Flatter Yourself”
By LG |

D-WHY is a rockstar. He is the kind of rapper that doesn’t just come with skill. He comes with the swagger to support his claims. If the rap game were Mortal Kombat, he would easily be the Johnny Cage of the group of fighters chosen to take back the industry. Needless to say, this album is a bloody combo to the face of all challengers. But is it a Johnny Cage nut-punch?

MIXTAPE REVIEW: Mike Stud & Huey Mack “Click”
By LG |

By themselves, Mike Stud & Huey Mack are amazing artists. Naturally when they announced a joint mixtape, the excitement for the project was at a fever pitch. Of course, as with any duo-mashup, fans can always be disappointed. Or, it can be amazing. Just look at Watch The Throne. Is this the case with the Stud/Mack pairing? The short answer? YES.

MIXTAPE REVIEW: Dezzy Yates “Summer Dreaming”
By LG |

Dezzy Yates is a force to be reckoned with. It really should come as no surprise that his most recent offering is good, but you have to give credit where credit is due, regardless of expectations. Summer Dreaming is a fantastic offering from Yates, and it expands my already budding interest in his career.

EP REVIEW: Oscar Lee “Scattershot”
By LG |

You definitely can’t pinpoint Oscar Lee’s style. The EP, “Scattershot” sweeps over you, holds you, and doesn’t really let go until it’s last audible sound. It’s great to say the least, but it’s beauty is not in it’s perfections, it’s moreso in Oscar’s imperfections. It would seem like a bad thing, to be vulnerable as a rapper, but Oscar turns it into great music.

MIXTAPE REVIEW: J.Walk “Progression”
By LG |

J.Walk is a great unsigned artist. He knows the importance of marketing, and has effectively built the hype needed to have anticipation for his mixtape at a good pitch. That tends to be half the battle these days. The other half is actually delivering on the project. So what’s the verdict?

MIXTAPE REVIEW: MikeThomas “The Will To Be Ill”
By LG |

MikeThomas is such a great young talent. At first, he was an underdog, but after “The Rookie Season”, it’s safe to say that he has gotten past that stage. Much more is expected from him. With that being said, I’m not exactly sure where this mixtape stands for me. Did Mike Thomas fall into a sophomore slump?

MIXTAPE REVIEW: A. Rose “In My Treehouse 2″
By LG |

A. Rose gets the job done. You never really leave one of his projects feeling unsatisfied. He isn’t quite a backpacker, and definitely not mainstream. He falls in that weird gray area that many of us can’t really quite put our finger on. His music isn’t the norm, but it is good, and “In My Treehouse 2” is no exception.

MIXTAPE REVIEW: Adam Reverie “Muses In Reverie”
By LG |

It doesn’t take you long. When sounds first escape your speakers, it won’t take you long to fall i love with what seems to dance it’s way to your ears. Adam Reverie is bold. Daring even. But what really takes your breath away here is not his raw sound. We should be used to that by now right? We know he’s good. But is he really that good that this project is able to take on a life of it’s own? The answer is YES.

ALBUM REVIEW: G-3 “Man Of The Hour”
By LG |

It would be safe to say that the anticipation for this album was at a fever pitch. After some delays, and much hype however, the day came and went. I knew this was going to be one to watch. G-3 is one of the most charismatic, entertaining rappers in the unsigned category. Does this latest body of work improve on his already set-in formula? Or does it let it plateau?

  • What’s Your Name?

Who are you? Really. Ask yourself that. The first step to making a presence is knowing who you are. The one thing that should always be consistent throughout your brand, (yes, you are a brand), is your name. Occasional name changes aside, your name always be the same. But when upcoming rapper, let’s call him “Kid Magic”, releases new music and his YouTube account calls him “K.I.D. Magic”, song title calls him “KidMagic”, Twitter calls him “Kiidd Magic”, and so on and so forth, how are his fans supposed to connect to his brand?
